Disclaimer and terms of use

Last updated 7 October 2026

In short. Ledgerline is a free tool that reads a bank statement inside your own web browser and shows you a summary. It is not advice, it can make mistakes, and you use it entirely at your own risk.

The person who runs this website does not receive, see, store or collect the statements you load or the results you see. Because of that, the operator cannot protect, recover or delete your data, and is not responsible for what happens to it on your device or anywhere else once you load it.

1. What this tool is

Ledgerline (“the tool”) is a free, self-contained web page. When you choose a statement file, the tool reads it in your browser, works out totals and categories, and displays them. The “operator” means the individual who publishes this website. By using the tool you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the tool.

2. No financial, tax, legal or professional advice

Nothing the tool shows is financial, investment, tax, accounting, credit, debt or legal advice, or a recommendation of any kind. The operator is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority or any other regulator in connection with the tool. Do not make financial decisions based only on what the tool shows. Take advice from a suitably qualified professional if you need it.

3. Accuracy and no warranty

Statements come in many layouts and the tool reads them on a best-effort basis. It can miss rows, misread amounts, dates or descriptions, put payments in the wrong category, mistake money going in for money going out (or the reverse), double count or skip transactions, and show balances that are wrong. Always compare the figures with your original statements.

THE TOOL IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THIS INCLUDES ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, SECURITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE TOOL WILL BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED OR FREE OF ERRORS OR HARMFUL CODE, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

4. Your data: how it works, and what the operator does not do

5. Security of your device and your data is your responsibility

Anything you load into the tool is as exposed as the device and browser you load it on. The operator is not responsible for any loss, theft, exposure, misuse, misappropriation or unauthorised access to your data or to any other person’s data, however it happens, including through:

Do not use the tool on a device you do not trust. Statements contain sensitive personal information. Remove or redact anything you do not need before loading a file.

6. Your responsibilities

7. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable to you or anyone else for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or connected with the tool or this website, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise. This includes, without limit, any loss of or damage to data; any misappropriation, disclosure or misuse of data; financial loss, loss of income, savings, profit or opportunity; wrong decisions made using the tool’s output; penalties, interest or charges; and any indirect or consequential loss.

Because the tool is free, you agree that, where liability cannot be excluded, the operator’s total liability to you is limited to £100 in aggregate.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any statutory right you have as a consumer.

8. Indemnity

If you load or share data that you have no right to use, or you use the tool unlawfully, you agree to be responsible for the consequences, and to cover the operator against any claim brought by a third party as a result, to the extent permitted by law.

9. Third parties, trade marks and open-source software

The tool is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any bank, card issuer, investment platform or other company. Company and product names that appear (for example in category rules) are used only to describe what a payment is, and belong to their owners.

PDF files are read using PDF.js from Mozilla, which is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. It is provided under that licence’s own disclaimers.

10. Changes, availability and ending use

The operator may change, suspend or remove the tool or these terms at any time without notice. The version of the terms shown on this page when you use the tool is the one that applies. You can stop using the tool at any time.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence says otherwise.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to the contact address published on this website. Please do not send bank statements or personal financial information to that address. The operator has no way to help with data you loaded into the tool.
